Bluetooth is one of the new wireless technologies available today. Bluetooth enables working with various electronic devices and integrates them via inexpensive and secure radio short wave frequencies. Bluetooth has enabled the user to communicate with the help of cell phones using headsets completely hands free and wireless. Even though it might sound complicated, these devices are very user friendly in reality. This is the reason for its popularity among the masses. Studies have revealed that the sales of Bluetooth electronic devices will be higher than one million in the near future and it will still be on the rise henceforth. Bluetooth can be seen in a variety of products like wireless phones, personal computers, handheld devices, cameras, GPS devices and even cars. Bluetooth technology is said to be the mixture of wireless technologies.
The reasons for using Bluetooth devices are many. They are used because they are wireless in nature avoiding the clutter of wires or cables. It is also found to be very affordable to the user due to the lesser over all production costs. Bluetooth starts functioning automatically without the need to connect or push buttons. The whole setup process is taken care by itself. Above all it is a standardized wireless protocol with less interference, consuming less energy and upgradeable in nature.
To establish a Bluetooth connectivity all that is required is to have two electronic devices that are paired to allow hassle free connection. It just takes very few seconds for getting connected. Bluetooth devices are capable of getting connected with more than one Bluetooth devices in various methods. The maximum number of devices that are connected is limited to seven at the speed rate of one Mbps. In the simplest form only two electronic devices are seen and involved and it is known as the point to point connectivity. Typically Bluetooth electronic devices work better within the range of ten meters or thirty feet. The electronic devices within this range too need to have the same Bluetooth version for making them work.
Just like any other device with a wireless connectivity, Bluetooth too has certain minor issues related to security. Hackers are known to eavesdrop on conversations, have a look at the saved data on the phones; they even access phone commands and many more. But this too requires the hacker to be within the connectivity range of Bluetooth. But these issues are said to be a thing of the past as many Bluetooth devices manufacturing companies are providing assurance to the users that they have offered a new locking system with the help of codes or they can provide facilities for hiding the code or may even help in turning off the sets when they are not used. Another major issue in relation to Bluetooth is “blue jacking”. It means a person with Bluetooth connectivity can create a flirty text or message and send it across to as many Bluetooth device users. The person sending the flirty message may not even be charged as it is done through the wireless network, making the condition even worse.
